President's Day Fun

M putting the finishing touches on our snowman.

O had school off today and I promised the girls that we would build a snowman while C was taking a nap. Well he layed down at 10:00 am and the girls reminded me that it was time to build. It was kind of hard since it is more powdery snow than the heavy stuff that sticks together. It ended up more like a snowthing. Now we just need to keep the dogs from eating the Oreo eyes and the carrot nose and mouth.

Add another one on our funny list....

Today M asked J's brother when he was going to get married. He asked her why she told him it will make him grow taller. Where did she come up with that?

Funny Kiddos!

Our kids just make us smile sometimes.... Sunday during Sacrament Meeting, J had C laying on the bench next to him. The girls were helping me pick up my bracelet that broke and went flying all over the place. As they were passing the water tray around, J went to hand it to O went C kicked the tray. Water went splashing everywhere and the used cups ended up on the top. I just started busting a gut. Needless to say we weren't very reverant. The poor deacon didn't know what to do but then went on passing the tray like nothing had happened. Hope nobody had any germs....;)

Later that night we were at J's parents and O told Grandma-Great, who is like 93, that her shoes were a boring color. We all got a good laugh out of that. Grandma-Great even laughed.

Mr. C - 6 months

I can't believe time has flown by so fast. Our little man is now six months old! Crazy!!!! He has been sick the past week so I just barely got him in for his 6 month check up. Here are the stats:

Weight: 17 lbs 4 oz (his check up was on Thurs. and the Fri. before when he was sick he weighed 16 lbs 8 oz - so he finally put som weight one this week)
Height: 28 inches (I think - I thought the nurse said he was 38 inches but our friend said no way he's not that tall. I could have heard the nurse wrong.)
He has been happy except for the strep throat and not wanting his bottle! He finally started rolling over both ways. He was doing great from back to tummy but going the other way was not his cup of tea. But he finally figured it out. He can sit for a few seconds before tipping over. And all I can say is our dog Fritz better watch out cause when this boy starts crawling I think he is going straight for the dog!

Happy Birthday Oak (1/22/09)

O turned 6 on January 22nd. I can hardly believe it. She was pretty excited for her birthday. For breakfast she asked for candle pancakes. Guess what they are really not that easy to make. She kept saying it looks like "i" instead of a candle. But she finally settled on a couple good "candles." Me and M decorated the house for her before she got home from school. She was thinking it was pretty cool that we had done that. The main thing she wanted for her birthday was an i-Pod. So off to Logan we went to pick out her i-Pod. I know, I know call us crazy, but she has done a great job keeping track of it. We had been asking what she wanted to do for her birthday and she for the longest time she said she wanted to go to Chuck-E-Cheeses. But then she changed her mind and just wanted to go bowling with her cousins. So that is what we did. Of course bowled about 7 frames and decided she had had enough and wanted to open presents. But she had to wait for everyone else to finish. She got many great presents. Thanks to everyone for making her day special!
P.S. - Like the striking a pose look in her pictures... me too!

San Diego - Day 3

For Day 3, we had been told to check out this restaurant called Kono's Surf Grill or something to that nature. It was Monday morning and by the time we got over there it was about 9:30 am. I don't mean to offend anybody from California - but I don't think they work over there. It seemed like everyone and their dog were out strolling around and eating breakfast and su rfing. Heck here by that time J has several good hours of work in and I am chasing the kids around by that time. Anyways, we waited about 45 mins to get our food. It was to die for. We ordered the Big Breakfast #2 - it came with the kind of hashbrowns made out of baked potatoes, green peppers, onions and cheese, it came with scrambled eggs, english muffin, french toast that was to die for and I think something else but oh my heavens it was good and no I don't think either of us finished it. Needless to say, that is where we ate on Tuesday morning too!

We decided we needed a day of relaxation and no agenda, so we went to the beach and hung out. The girls loved it. I think J loved it too other than the water was a little cold. M ended up by me and C. She played in the sand a lot and would run back and forth in and out of the ocean. O loved the ocean and liked having J pull her up before the tide came in. J said the ocean water was pretty darn salty. After the ocean we went back and swam at the resort some more. We wanted to see the sunset on the ocean on last time and I wanted some sunset pictures so we headed back to the beach for the evening. I cracked up with the couple that shows up in the pictures. For a minute I thought I should have taken their engagement pics. Not. From there we then went out to this restaurant called World Famous. It was delicious and was a good end of the vacation meal. We then again went swimming in the hot tubs at the resort that evening. The pictures of the kids asleep is what happens when you have been running like crazy for three days trying to see everything and do everything and have a wonderful time on top of it all. They all crashed pretty darn hard. It was hard coming home.... we walked out of the SLC airport to 35 degrees and it was about 20 degrees at our house. I think we were all ready to hop back on down to that warm weather in San Diego!
Thanks honey for the trip. You work so hard to provide for our little family and we appreciate everything you do. I couldn't have asked for a better little family vacation and getting to spend time together!

San Diego - Day 2

On the way, I am not the worlds best packer and I haven't been on an airplane for a long time. I overpacked our luggage and both of the suitcases were overweight. And not just a little overweight, I mean way overweight. So instead of trying to adjust things around we just pretty much bought our luggage a ticket to San Diego. So we decided that we would either UPS our luggage home, try to see if my brother was trucking down in that area or then we realized I nor J had taken carry on luggage. So we set out to find a Wal-Mart. Unfortunately I think the Wal-Mart chain forgot to branch out in extreme Southern Cali. On our way to the Animal Park we did find a Target and bought a carry on. It worked wonders on the way home.

So for our 2nd day in San Diego, we decided to go get some breakfast at the Barefoot Grill at the resort. We decided that we would hit the San Diego Zoo and Balboa Park. We got to the zoo and it was about oh 85 degrees. We had several people tell us that the zoo is extremely big and that taking the little bus tour would be a great idea. So we didn't have to walk around all day. It was pretty cool. I guess you could say it looked like a zoo! Unfortunately we have little water babies and all they wanted to do was swim. So we would get done with one thing and all they could ask was if we could go back to the resort to swim. I joked around and told J that we could have just rented the Hampton Inn for a couple weeks and they could have just swam there! Well we had these three-in-one San Diego passes that got us in SeaWorld, the San Diego Zoo and the Wild Animal Park. J really wanted to see Balboa Park but I really wanted to see the Wild Animal Park so we headed up North to Escindido (I think) to go to the Wild Animal Park. It was really cool. They had this little reserve type area that they had quite a few of the animals together. We went up to the dude to get in line and he said the wait for the tour train was about 45 mins. to an hour. The dude to us that if we had preferred tickets we wouldn't have to wait in line. So J had one of those Mastercard commercial moments. Buying our luggage a ticket to get to San Diego ....$$$, Buying a new carry on luggage.....$$, Preferred tickets to the train that was really free to begin with...$54.00, Not having to stand in line for 45 minutes with kids who really just wanted to go swimming.... Priceless! Anyways it was a great day.

On our way home the kids fell asleep and we decided to go find the San Diego Temple. It was beautiful. We wished that we had been there on a different day and time and had someone to watch the kids so we could do a session. Oh well, such is life. It was beautiful there and the grounds did have a peaceful feeling. J was talking to the couple missionaries that were shutting down the visitors center for the night and they asked where we were from. J told them Utah and they asked where he then said Northern Utah and explained where we are located they laughed and said that they have been through here several times because they were from Logan. Small world, huh!
We finished the evening out by eating at Tony Roma's (I keep calling it Tony Romo's). And of course.... swimming.

Happy Birthday Evan!

This goes out to J's dad who is working in Africa for a couple more days - HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
