San Diego - Day 2

On the way, I am not the worlds best packer and I haven't been on an airplane for a long time. I overpacked our luggage and both of the suitcases were overweight. And not just a little overweight, I mean way overweight. So instead of trying to adjust things around we just pretty much bought our luggage a ticket to San Diego. So we decided that we would either UPS our luggage home, try to see if my brother was trucking down in that area or then we realized I nor J had taken carry on luggage. So we set out to find a Wal-Mart. Unfortunately I think the Wal-Mart chain forgot to branch out in extreme Southern Cali. On our way to the Animal Park we did find a Target and bought a carry on. It worked wonders on the way home.

So for our 2nd day in San Diego, we decided to go get some breakfast at the Barefoot Grill at the resort. We decided that we would hit the San Diego Zoo and Balboa Park. We got to the zoo and it was about oh 85 degrees. We had several people tell us that the zoo is extremely big and that taking the little bus tour would be a great idea. So we didn't have to walk around all day. It was pretty cool. I guess you could say it looked like a zoo! Unfortunately we have little water babies and all they wanted to do was swim. So we would get done with one thing and all they could ask was if we could go back to the resort to swim. I joked around and told J that we could have just rented the Hampton Inn for a couple weeks and they could have just swam there! Well we had these three-in-one San Diego passes that got us in SeaWorld, the San Diego Zoo and the Wild Animal Park. J really wanted to see Balboa Park but I really wanted to see the Wild Animal Park so we headed up North to Escindido (I think) to go to the Wild Animal Park. It was really cool. They had this little reserve type area that they had quite a few of the animals together. We went up to the dude to get in line and he said the wait for the tour train was about 45 mins. to an hour. The dude to us that if we had preferred tickets we wouldn't have to wait in line. So J had one of those Mastercard commercial moments. Buying our luggage a ticket to get to San Diego ....$$$, Buying a new carry on luggage.....$$, Preferred tickets to the train that was really free to begin with...$54.00, Not having to stand in line for 45 minutes with kids who really just wanted to go swimming.... Priceless! Anyways it was a great day.

On our way home the kids fell asleep and we decided to go find the San Diego Temple. It was beautiful. We wished that we had been there on a different day and time and had someone to watch the kids so we could do a session. Oh well, such is life. It was beautiful there and the grounds did have a peaceful feeling. J was talking to the couple missionaries that were shutting down the visitors center for the night and they asked where we were from. J told them Utah and they asked where he then said Northern Utah and explained where we are located they laughed and said that they have been through here several times because they were from Logan. Small world, huh!
We finished the evening out by eating at Tony Roma's (I keep calling it Tony Romo's). And of course.... swimming.
